Man
oh man, I can’t
say enough about Dr. Boyd and Symmetry Chiropractic! After six months
of trying to find relief from my chronic neck pain with Physical
Therapy, a friend suggested I get another opinion and make an appointment
to see Dr. Boyd. I am so thankful I did! Not only did she treat my physical symptoms
with the utmost care and expertise, but made some suggestions on
how changing my diet could help with the healing!
I am 85% pain free and getting better day by day.
On
top of that, the office is such a comfortable atmosphere and
the staff so friendly,
you can’t help but feel better when
you leave there.

Throughout
the last 9 years, I have had a string of injuries that have severely
limited my activity, especially athletically! Yesterday, I ran around
the track for the longest distance I’ve run since my first
knee injury 9 years ago. Afterwards, I felt great! With the help
of Dr. Boyd, not only am I improving my overall health & daily
activity, but also I’m also becoming an athlete again!

For my 29th birthday,
my husband arranged for me to have one of my ultimate dreams come
true: training with a K-9 police dog! Needless to say, despite
the protection of the bite suit, after several takedowns I was
definitely feeling the impact; in one particular takedown, the
dog actually tackled me, grasped my left arm, and pulled me 7 feet
across the grass towards the commanding officer.
The next morning when I woke up, I was unable
to lift my left arm overhead, and I had some soreness in my shoulder,
but I thought it was to be expected. Days later when I could barely
sleep and even driving was painful I began to realize that the
pain was more than simple soreness!
I had met Dr. Boyd earlier in the year, but to
be honest, I have always been skeptical about chiropractic care.
But, after one phone call I was in the office for a full exam and
began treatment immediately. AFTER MY FIRST OFFICE VISIT I HAD
NO PAIN! So I thought, “Well, that was easy,” but I
continued for a few visits, to be sure the pain did not return.
However, soon I began to notice some HUGE changes in my body. Namely,
a noticeable decrease in my asthma…and my seasonal allergies
all but disappeared. After following Dr. Boyd’s advice on
nutritional and supplemental intake, I lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks,
and I no longer need coffee to get me going in the morning. My
husband was so impressed with Dr. Boyd, he began care with her
as well, and his insomnia and TMJ have decreased dramatically.
If I would have known that chiropractic care
is not just for people with sore backs, I would’ve come in
so much earlier! As for now, I will definitely continue to enjoy
the structural and physical changes in my body, and you can count
on us to bring our future children in starting at birth!

For years I have had growing pain in
my neck and upper back after a moving accident and then breaking
my collarbone. I was having problems with mobility, just turning
my head from side to side was painful and difficult. Regular physical
tasks like doing the dishes was enough to put me out of commission
because of the soreness and stiffness it would cause me. I was first
recommended to see Dr. Boyd by a co-worker who noticed the pain I
was going through on a daily basis.
I found her office to be very comfortable and inviting and I enjoyed the open
atmosphere rather than an office feel. Thanks to Dr. Boyd's methods I have had
steady improvement in my mobility and I can ride my bike again! She has been
very patient and caring and I always leave the office feeling very positive.
I am very grateful that I have found Symmetry Chiropractic and I recommend anyone
experiencing pain in their daily lives go see Dr. B if you are ready for a change.
Looking back, I can't believe I waited as long as I did. GO NOW!!!

I first brought
my son Carlos to Dr. Boyd when he was 16 months old. He had been
in and out of the hospital
with severe asthma for 2 months. Although he had one asthmatic episode
at 13 months old in September 2004, he wasn’t on daily medications
or having any problems until he fell out of a cart onto his forehead
the day before thanksgiving.
He showed no immediate signs of trauma, cried for a few minutes but then ran
around, played and giggled as usual. Over the next few hours, I knew something
else was wrong, as his energy level drained and he became pale. He started developing
symptoms of a cold, so both the advise nurse and I thought it was viral and not
related to his fall. His breathing went south late Thanksgiving night and we
ended up in the ER the next day.
Although I told the doctors about his fall and thought an x-ray was in order,
our healthcare provider said any “real” trauma would have been immediately
evident and wouldn’t affect his breathing. He was admitted to the ER and/or
hospitalized 4 times over the next 5 weeks, constantly on oral steroids and inhalers
with his health failing rapidly. I was worried he was going to die, or at best
always have to be on strong medications and constantly monitored.
My active, happy, lively boy was now lethargic, pale, sad and extremely sick
all the time. The “real” trauma to all of us! In less than 10 visits
to Cindy, who immediately found his atlas vertebra completely out of place, my
son was off oral steroids and almost all of his inhalers. Within a month, he
was doing so well that we attempted to wean him off all medications. We ended
up in the hospital for what seemed to be the last time. That was almost two years
ago and he’s never even come close to visiting the ER again! He rarely
gets sick and is back to being his happy, rambunctious self again! We can’t
thank Cindy enough!

I
recently dislocated my knee cap & was under the care of an orthopedic
surgeon, but I knew Dr. Boyd could help with some of the other issues
associated with my problem. I went in, somewhat hunched over from
walking with a brace on my knee and told her my lower back was in
a lot of pain. She helped me lay on my stomach (which I had not done
yet since injury) and worked on my lower back. I had no pain, no
fear and was standing up-right when we were done. Dr. Boyd takes
the whole person into consideration when helping with your issues...I
feel completely confident when I go in to see her.

Last
year my lower back and hip would hurt for periods of up to a week
at a time. Some days I was unable walk without extreme pain. Since
visiting Symmetry Chiropractic this year, I no longer suffer any
pain in my hip, my back pain has also subsided and I am experiencing
improved sleep and mental clarity. Besides being an amazing chiropractor,
Dr. Boyd is always willing to answer my many questions about nutrition
and vitamin supplements which has definitely improved my overall
health!

Holy Cow! Dr. Boyd
is a miracle worker...I've been to many chiropractors over many
years, and none ever actually FIXED me in any kind of permanent
way. They just crack you and send you on your way. Dr. Boyd did
a thorough analysis with x-rays and mobility tests, and catered
a specialized treatment to my individual needs.
After only 3 weeks now I have movement in my
low back and sacral joint that had been pretty immobile for years...
and my "hump" is almost gone! (it was just a little one,
but still unsightly on a pretty lady)

Like
many computer users, I’ve had neck pain for more years than I care to count. However,
after one session with Dr. Boyd, my pain in the neck disappeared
and hasn’t yet returned. All sorts of activities—some
as benign as sitting in a move theatre—that used to make my
neck ache are now pain-free. I’m beyond thrilled—all
the more so because my first visit to Dr. Boyd had nothing to
do with my neck. I originally
consulted Dr. Boyd in hopes she could do something about some badly
strained back muscles.
It started with a
fall from a horse I probably should not have been on in the first
place. Lying
in the dust, I knew I was in
serious trouble, and a violent cough a few hours later sealed the
deal—pulling, it seemed, all the muscles on the right side
of my back and shoulders. That’s what I told the emergency
room doctor a few days later, when my home-grown remedies proved
inadequate. Sympathetically prescribing painkillers, the doctor
sent me home.
Remembering, after days with no improvement, that a chiropractor
had once helped me with a strained back muscle, I looked online
for chiropractors in Alameda. I chose Dr. Boyd from the Chamber
of Commerce website because I liked how she described her work.
She quickly arranged an emergency appointment.
When I explained the
problem and symptoms, Dr. Boyd looked puzzled. “What
you’re describing sounds more like ribs than shoulder muscles.”
Now I was puzzled. “Ribs?
Where the heck are my ribs? And what do they have to do with
this?”
Dr. Boyd spent about
an hour with me, taking a detailed history and running me through
a battery of
gentle tests. She urged me
to go back to the doctor for an x-ray, even making the appointment
for me. “I can’t say anything without x-rays, but I’m
worried about your ribs.”
The doctor, during
our brief visit, was skeptical. “I’m
pretty sure you didn’t break your ribs,” he said, “but
if you really want an x-ray, we’ll set that up.”
He was so skeptical,
in fact, that he called me less than an hour later. “The technician emailed me the films,” he said, “and
your ribs are fine. Just keep taking those painkillers, and if
they don’t work for you, we can prescribe you something else.”
However, about noon
the next day, the doctor called me again. “The
radiologist checked your film,” he said, sounding sheepish. “It
turns out I was wrong. You have not one, but three cracked ribs.” He
apologized for the misdiagnosis, adding, “I cracked a rib
once. That really hurts.”
Since the cure for cracked ribs is
to do nothing, I can’t
claim that the emergency room doctors mistreated me. However, Dr.
Boyd’s ability to listen carefully, conduct a thoughtful
evaluation, and reach an accurate diagnosis contrasted sharply
with the actions of the emergency room doctors. In short, I was
impressed. And now that my neck doesn’t hurt any more—I’m
also very grateful. As I tell Dr. Boyd, falling off that horse
was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Best chiropractic care in
Alameda and beyond!!!
When I began seeing Dr. Boyd a few months ago, I could barely
walk due to severe lower back pain. People looked at me funny on
the street because my mobility was worse than most at age 85 and
I'm not even 30 (yet!). Because of her excellent care and meticulous
attention to my unfortunate condition I now feel like a new man.
I can once again enjoy all the things in life that I took for granted
before. I had nearly become a shut-in because my pain was so severe.
I can't thank her enough.
I enjoy the atmosphere that Dr. Boyd has created in her office
as well. The open adjustment area makes for a very community
oriented yet individually therapeutic feel. I find my visits
very relaxing
as well as social due to the ability to interact with the diverse
group of patients while receiving unmatched attention. The staff
(Lisa) is friendly as well as helpful and makes for a constantly
pleasant experience. I would recommend Symmetry Chiropractic
to anyone in need of the best care available.
